ABOUT THE ARTIST AND HER WORK
Callandra S. Cook is interested in exploring our human tendency to perseverate on repetition and collection, whether that means collection of objects or of memories. Working in series and often with items that evoke traditional femininity, she captures recurring events as they are embodied in a tangible accrual of objects and finite experiences.
Cook, a two time Fulbright scholar, completed a Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art Photography at Towson University in Towson, Maryland in 2012. In addition to pursuing her art, she is also a full time teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools, where she has worked with students in grades 5-12 since 2001.
